AFFILIATIONS

Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors One of the two premier marine surveying societies in North America. SAMS requires 5 years surveying experience prior to entry, sets a written examination, and requires continuing education by its members. Captain Beckett is Accredited Marine Surveyor Nr 633.

American Boat and Yacht Council This organization set standards for the recreational boating industry and small craft in general. Membership is drawn from all areas of the industry, and standards are developed through a system of commmittees. ABYC is the premier non governmental authority on small boat safety in the world. Captain Beckett is a member.

BoatUS Technical Exchange Provides for an exchange of information among marine professionals, and publishes recurring boat related problems revealed through insurance claims. It is a good source of information. Captain Beckett is a member.

National Fire Protection Association A non governmental body which sets fire fighting and safety standards for a wide variety of disciplines including boating in North America.

International Association of Marine Investigators An association dedicated to combatting boat related crime. Through a network of Law Enforcement Personnel and private parties involved in the industry, IAMI works toward the return of stolen boats and the prevention of theft. Captain Beckett is a member.

Association of Marine Underwriters of BC Established to encourage a high quality of business practice in the marine insurance industry. Captain Beckett is an associate member.
